"Kaido Roman Meguri" is our own stay program for walking the Nakasendo's Kiso Road, whose natural beauty changes throughout the year. It is an experiential program held on set dates a few times a year; guided walks and the brush-lettering experience are not included in ordinary stays. Because On-yado Tsutaya began in 1688 as an inn on the Kiso Road, we propose the time spent at the inn and the time spent walking the road as one continuous journey. The Kiso Road has the presence of mountains, the sound of the river and the calm of old townscapes, with small expressions along the wayside that you would miss from a car window. Walking while listening to the guide, the same slopes and corners rise up as landscapes steeped in history.

Additionally, our Kaido Roman tour includes a calligraphy experience with our 14th-generation proprietress. With her certification as a 'Calligraphy' instructor, you will capture the feelings, sights, and memorable words from your journey in calligraphy.
