We also have Western-style rooms at ANNEX HATAGO, located diagonally across the road. All rooms are non-smoking, and each differs in terms of unit bath availability, bedding, capacity, and size. Whether you want to stretch your legs after walking the Kiso Road, stay functionally with a small group, or share time with your family, we have organized our room types for your convenience.

The first thing to notice is that "staying" feels different in the main building's Japanese-style rooms and in ANNEX HATAGO. The main building is centered on tatami rooms of 8, 10 or 12 mats, chosen to suit your party and how you like to spend your time. Most rooms are equipped with TV, telephone, safe, kettle, tea set, air conditioning, hair dryer, air purifier and refrigerator, and after the bath it feels right to sit on the tatami in a yukata and haori with a cup of tea. ANNEX HATAGO, by contrast, offers Western-style rooms: the double room is about 16 sqm and the twin room about 23 sqm. The building is about a 30-second walk from the main entrance, and check-in and check-out, the main bathhouse and the dining hall are all in the main building. The first fork in the road is whether you value the space of tatami or prefer to rest lightly around a bed.

If you value space for a family or group trip, the 12-tatami rooms are the ones to consider. Shingetsutei, a 12-tatami room for up to 4 guests, was renovated in March 2023: the washroom and toilet are step-free and the room has a large sofa that becomes a bed at night, so guests with limited mobility can stay comfortably. From three guests, futons are laid directly on the tatami, which suits family trips where everyone rests in the same room while chatting. A unit bath, shower toilet and washbasin make it easy to get ready in the room.

Kagetsutei, also a 12-tatami room, is the largest room in the inn. It sleeps up to 5 and is a calm, purely Japanese room with the scent of old Japan. We recommend it to those who treasure gathering in one space: a couple traveling with children, a commemorative stay with parents, or friends touring the Kiso Road together. It is equipped with a shower toilet, washbasin, TV, telephone, safe, kettle, tea set, air conditioning, hair dryer, air purifier and refrigerator. The room has a shower booth (no bathtub) and no unit bath; to soak in a tub, please use the baths in the main building. It suits guests who want to savor the expanse of tatami.

For couples who want both the charm of tatami and the comfort of a bed, Komakusatei, a 10-tatami room with beds, is an easy choice. It sleeps 2, with Simmons twin beds set on the tatami. The tatami area for relaxing is a little snug, but with a clear place to sleep it is natural to lie down after walking the Kiso Road. Push the beds together and they become something like a large double. With a unit bath, shower toilet and washbasin, it also suits two travelers who like to get ready in the room.

If you want to feel the Kiso River close by, there is Furyutei, an 8-tatami room by the river. It sleeps up to 4 and is a purely Japanese room standing beside the Kiso River; sit on the veranda and you can feel the murmur of the river and the changing seasons. For a calm stay on the mountain side, choose Sanputei, an 8-tatami room on the mountain side. It sleeps up to 4, but as a calm 8-tatami room that is just right for two, it suits a quiet trip. Both have a unit bath, shower toilet and washbasin. If you do not mind which room and want a room sized to a party of 3 to 5, there is the "Omakase" Japanese-style room: a purely Japanese room of 8 to 12 tatami with a toilet, allocated by the inn. These rooms have no bath or shower, so bathing is in the main bathhouse on the 1st floor, but they are convenient for those who want a tatami room sized to their group.

ANNEX HATAGO is a three-story building diagonally across the road from the main building, Kaido Roman On-yado Tsutaya. It is about a 30-second walk from the main entrance; there is no passenger elevator, but a luggage elevator is provided. A coin laundry room on the 1st floor is available 24 hours. The rooms are Western-style, each for 1 to 2 guests. Rooms have a shower (no bathtub); to soak in a tub, please use the main bathhouse in the main building. Samue loungewear, bath towels, hand towels and toothbrushes are provided, and the rooms suit those who prefer to build their stay around a bed rather than tatami. It fits a trip where you use the main building's bathhouse, dining hall and 1st-floor lounge, while keeping your room simple and restful.

The double room is about 16 sqm with one queen-size bed, suited to solo travelers who want generous bedding or couples who share a bed. The twin room is about 23 sqm with two semi-double beds, an easy choice when companions want separate beds or room to spread out luggage. Both have a shower toilet, desk, washbasin, TV, telephone, safe, kettle, tea set, air conditioning, hair dryer and refrigerator. For those who value the convenience of a bed and desk over the atmosphere of a tatami room, ANNEX HATAGO makes a good base for the journey.
