What Makes Atami Fireworks Special
Amazing Sound Effects
Atami Bay is surrounded by mountains on three sides. This special shape creates echo effects when fireworks explode over the sea, making it sound like being inside a huge stadium.
Over 70 Years of History
The Atami Seaside Fireworks Festival started in 1952 (Showa 27). In summer 2026, it will celebrate its 74th year.
Best Viewing Spots
You can enjoy the fireworks from anywhere along the Atami Bay coastline. These places are especially recommended:
Atami Sun Beach: The main beach area and most popular spot
Atami Port area: The harbour area also offers good views
Shinsui Park: A waterfront park
Coastal Promenade: The seaside walking path
Important Notice
From midday on the festival day, the firework launch area becomes off-limits for safety reasons
After the fireworks finish, Atami Station becomes extremely crowded
Buy your return train tickets in advance (or top up your IC card such as Suica)
From 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the ticket gates at Atami Station are very busy. We recommend staying at a nearby hotel
Using JR Kinomiya Station is also a good option. You can avoid the crowds at Atami Station
